With the Tony Awards just around the corner, there are many people who are excited to learn who the host of the show will be. Now, there are no more speculations since the persons behind the show have confirmed who the host will be. It is none other than the How I Met Your Mother funny man, Neil Patrick Harris.
He will be the main host of the prestigious Tony Awards this year, which will happen on June 7. This will be in honor of the best in Broadway performances. The show will be officially broadcasted on CBS the same night until 11 in the evening. The show is said to take place at the Radio City Music Hall.
The host of the evening, Neil Patrick Harris has also appeared on Broadway such as in the famed Cabaret revival as well as in the Assassins where he played as Lee Harvey Oswald and the Balladeer. He has also starred in the drama called Proof, which has received a Tony Award itself. Harris says that he is a great fan of the theatre as well as its actors due to the fact that they have to do the same performance every night and yet they never get tired of it. He also stated that he is very honored to be picked as the master of ceremonies for the said event this year. On May 5, the nominees for the show were announced. There are 27 categories where the best among the best in theatre are competing. Among the nominees are Billy Elliot, Rock of Ages, Next to Normal and Shrek the Musical. They will be vying for the title Best Musical. The nominees for Best Play are God of Carriage, Dividing the Estate, Reasons to Be Pretty and the 33 Variations. As usual, the winners will be decided upon by the theatre community with over 800 members.
