Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen became household names because of their acting career. However, movie fans no longer heard of them for a very long time now. They are actually very busy with their own non-showbiz businesses that they are not even able to appear on TV. Actually, they have started making it in the movie business since they were infants and because of their growing popularity, they have scored TV shows, lots of interviews from big time magazines and even endorsements.
Recently, Ashley Olsen sat down to chat with VMAN magazine and in the most recent issue she opened up about her life, style and her career in showbiz. When asked what is in store for her in the future, she told the magazine that it will include plenty of fashion but less acting. Ashley, now 22 years of age, stated that she became an actress because she wanted to become involved in the fashion industry. This was what she really wanted and nobody took part in this decision of hers.
As for Mary-Kate, 2006 was her debut acting appearance without her twin. It was in the movie called Factory Girl. Originally, she had a lot of scenes for this film but when the finished product arrived, she only appeared in the background. In the next years, she was invited to guest in the series called Weeds. In 2007, she appeared in the independent film, which was The Wackness. She starred alongside Ben Kingsley with whom she shared a passionate kiss. While Ashley wants to become a professional trend-setter, Mary-Kate still strives to be a certified actress.
Ashley also quoted that Mary-Kate wants to focus in her acting career but her twin is her partner in their own couture fashion brand, The Row. She also said that their clothing line is very different from other celebrity brands because of the fact that other personalities such as Kimora Lee Simmons and Jessica Simpson have their names on their fashion lines. She also revealed that she gets to see her twin more than times a day so they trust each other when it comes to their business.
The twins will be very busy to make future movies, which is why many have speculated that they will be retiring in the world of show business soon. As stated, Mary-Kate will still be doing movies but Ashley has few plans when it comes to making films. Most likely, the twins who are barely five feet tall will no longer be seen together in movies.
While many are not really impressed with their acting skills, their enterprise has greatly flourished. This made them one of the richest women on Earth today. With all the controversies surrounding them, it is good to know that these two have each other to lean on when bad times arrive. The movies that they made in the past were all hits but after the several issues, there are only few that support them. Maybe it is indeed a good time to retire.
