The publicists of Robin Williams said today, March 23, 2009, that he was still recovering at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio after his heart surgery that the doctors deemed to be successful.

The 57-year-old United States winning actor and comedian who starred in the movies such as ‘Mork & Mindy,’ ‘Good Morning, Vietnam,’ ‘Bicentennial Man’ and “Good Will Hunting’ had undergone an operation on March 13, 2009 in order to replace his aortic valve. According to the statements of his publicists Chris Kanarick and Mara Buxbaum, Williams went under the knife in order to repair his mitral valve, to replace his aortic valve and to correct the irregular beat of his heart.

According to a cardiothoracic surgeon on the Cleveland Clinic, Dr. A. Marc Gillinov, where the Oscar award winning actor is being treated, “Williams’ operation went extremely well and we expect him to make a full recovery.” Dr. A. Marc Gillinov further stated that, “His heart is strong and he will have normal heart function in the coming weeks with no limitations on what he’ll be able to do. A couple of hours after surgery, he was entertaining the medical team and making us all laugh.”

After of more than three hours of medical procedure, Dr. A. Marc Gillinov said that Robin Williams was expected to make a full recovery in the following eight weeks.

Initially, Robin Williams was treated at the University of Miami Hospital before he was transferred to the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. Earlier this month, Robin Williams had been in Florida when he was required to cancel the remainder of “Weapons of Self-Destruction,” his one-man comedy show after he experienced shortness of breath.

Acccording to Mara Buxbaum, the publicist of Robin Williams that the multi-city tour of Robin Williams was sold out and is expected to start again in the fall, thanked staff at both hospitals.

Robin Williams said in an interview that, “I can’t thank them enough for their kindness and dedication while I was in their care. “I must also thank all the people who have expressed their love and concern for me. I have been deeply touched by their support.”

Robin Williams being Robin Williams a great and famous comedian, he could not refuse a comic aside.

He said that “I got some great new material for the tour and can’t wait to get back on the road. I’m thinking the next leg of the tour will be ‘Weapons of Self-Destruction and Reconstruction’!”

Robin joked on the show of David Letterman that “I have one new valve and a repaired valve. I have a cow valve, which is great, and the grazing’s been fun.”

Robin Williams has indeed undergone a ‘successful’ heart surgery. He is truly an amazing man, who truly deserves the second chance given to him from above.
