Everyone on the internet today has their version of their top five favorite movies of all time. I figured, since I am not getting any younger, I too, should make a list. The five movies that I have chosen is a very eclectic list. I try to incorporate all genres into my list to make it fair. Screw fair, these are my favorite movies, and this is why I like them.
Number 5: A Fish Called Wanda.
By far, this is one of the greatest comedies for me to watch. This is one of those types of movies that you can watch over and over without ever getting tired of watching. Where else can you laugh about a diamond heist with Kevin Kline as an inept ex CIA agent? One of my favorite lines in the movie is: “It’s K-K-K-Ken C-C-Coming to k-k-k-kill me.” If you don’t know what I’m talking about, see the movie and you will laugh just as hard as I still do.
Number 4: The Empire Strikes Back
How could you NOT love this movie? This movie had it all: Science Fiction, Revenge, personal growth, and that uncomfortable brother sister kiss between Luke and Leia. Besides, all of that, Luke gets his hand sliced off by a light saber, and Han Solo gets frozen in Carbonite. The movie ends as there is no more hope. Not many movies out there end on such a down note.
Number 3: Silverado
This western had it all. It had a young Kevin Costner before stardom went to his head. The story line was believeable and fun to watch. I was amazed at the all star cast in Silverado; this movie had them all: Danny Glover, John Cleese, and Kevin Kline just to name a few.
Number 2: It’s a Wonderful Life.
Now who here doesn’t love this movie? This is the most natural cure for anyone with depression. If you are feeling down and out, watch this movie, and you will realize that YOUR life matters and is worth living.
And finally my number one movie of all time: Cool Hand Luke. Wait? What? Not the Godfather? No, sorry. Godfather is in my Top 10, not my Top 5. This movie is my personal favorite because of the underdog who will not comply and conform to society’s rules. How could you not like this type of movie? What we have here is failure to communicate. Indeed!
These top five movies are my top five favorite movies of all times. How many of them are in your list, or do you even have a list? If you don’t agree with me, take time to watch these five movies again with an open mind. Watch how wonderful and amazing the stories are to these five movies. You will not be disappointed.
