It seems like when the Twilight movie came out, there are other vampire movies and TV series that surfaced. Now, Fright Night is another one of them. Vampires will be continuing their winning streak for being one of the top subjects in Hollywood films. DreamWorks has decided to remake the 1985 movie of horror comedy genre.
Tom Holland was the one who wrote and directed the original Fright Night movie. Currently, there is no word yet about who will be writing the script for the updated version of the film but the objective here is to keep the movie’s comic tone while the horrific effects are modernized. The producers for the film are Michael Gaeta and Alison Rozenweig from the Gaeta/Rozenweig Films. Michael De Luca is producing the movie also along with them.
DreamWorks is presently on the process of picking up and remaking the hit 80s movie. Although the original Fright Night was actually done more than ten years ago, there are still a lot of fans who are excited about the idea. However, there is no creative team that has been signed for the movie. The original film is about a teenager who discovers that he has vampire neighbors. Holland also included in the story about the mediocre horror actor and host played by Roddy McDowall to slaughter the vampire. Soon enough, in the year 1988, the movie was followed by its sequel about the revenge of the sister of the vampire who was slain.
Fright Night may not be the same as Twilight except for the vampires but the producers and the other people behind the film are expecting it to be a big hit in the box office. It was actually Alison Rozenweig’s idea to create a remake of the movie. She is currently working with another film remake with De Luca called “Angel Heart” as well as “The Reincarnation of Peter Proud” when the concept came to her and she introduced it to her partner. DreamWorks first hesitated since the company rarely made horror films. In addition, their latest offering, which was “The Ruins” only grossed 17 million dollars. However, their remake of the Japanese horror “The Ring” was a huge hit that grossed over 390 million dollars around the world.
In Hollywood today, there is a very long list concerning film remakes and some of them have really made an impact to the worldwide audiences. However, not all of them are well received by their audiences. The 1985 Fright Night movie collected awards and nominations from different award giving bodies. All heads are now turned to the remake as many wonder whether this will be able to match the success of the first film.
For many fans, they think that the modernization of the effects will be a great help for the current film. Many people are also waiting for the remake of the 1985 Fright Night movie to happen since it is always refreshing for them to watch a hilarious horror film combined into one.
