Marshal Bruce Mathers III, best known as Eminem is famous for his music that seems to go attacking and upsetting other celebrities like himself. Back in 2005, there were some speculations that he would soon retire from his rapping career. He denied these reports but at some point in time, he admitted that there were instances that he doubted where his career would go in the upcoming years. Soon enough, he disappeared from the scene and was said to have remained in the background with other artists as he produced their works. He collaborated with Dr. Dre, Jay-Z, 50 Cent and others such as T.I., Fat Joe, Kid Rock and Akon.
On March 5, 2009, he confirmed that he is back to make more music for his fans. The album was called the Relapse 2. For this album, he has released his most recent video that includes making fun of Jessica Simpson. Metro Times sat with Eminem to talk about his new album and his videos that are truly controversial. He said that somehow he faced some conflicts regarding the music video that would involve the pop singer turned actress who then turned into a country singer.
The Cowboys, Tony Romo’s team, who was Jessica’s boyfriend, is Eminem’s favorite. So he was really confused whether he should still include Jessica in the video. In the song, he has a line that goes, “Jessica Simpson, sing the chorus.” This meant that they have to get a Jessica look-a-like to come out and sing the chorus for the music video. Eminem then emphasized that the country singer got fat so they have to stick to the real world and show it on the video.
He believes that his videos are like time capsules that make a great depiction of what is really happening in the pop culture. He wants the people who watched the video remember that Simpson indeed got fat. He even said that even though she will be thin again, it will never change the fact that she became fat. Eminem admitted that he told his manager, Paul Rosenberg as well as the other people around him to forget about the Jessica Simpson part since it can be a reason for Romo to have a bad game for the Cowboys.
The music video was for the song “WE Made You.” He said that although he did not want to insult Jessica Simpson, he cannot hire someone who is like the past voluptuous figure of Jessica Simpson. Instead, he got someone who is plump and chubby wearing the similar outfit of Simpson in the Dukes of Hazard movie. The scene is a parody of her video in These Boots Are Made for Walking.
Jessica Simpson was only one of the celebrities that were mocked by Eminem. The video also includes other notable personalities such as Britney Spears, Ellen DeGeneres, Kim Kardashian, John Mayer and Lindsay Lohan. The video also features cameo appearances by 50 Cent, Lisa Ann and Dr. Dre. Trisha Paytas is the one who played as Jessica Simpson.
